The Murphy Family
Behind the scenes of Murphy Vineyards you'll find the rest of the family...
Nancy Murphy
Nancy is a fourth generation Californian born and raised in Palo Alto. She moved to Napa Valley in 1978 and worked in banking and retail. Shortly after, her and Peter married in 1980 and started the Murphy Family. After Michael was born in 1987 she and Peter started Ag Tech Services. Since then, Nancy has managed the office and owned a retail yarn shop which she ran for 6 years before going back to the office full time.
Melissa Kalember
Melissa grew up listening to her father’s stories and experiences in the vineyard. She learned about the growing seasons, the different grape varietals and styles of wine. However, as a young girl, Melissa also discovered her love for horses. When she wasn't at home soaking up the vineyard life, she was at the barn riding to perfect the dicipline of Hunters & Jumpers. Melissa followed her father’s footsteps to the University of California, Davis, but instead of studying wine, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science. Melissa now runs her own business, Total Equine Connection, where she closes the gap of communication between the horse and rider.
When Melissa is not at the horse farm, she helps Kevin manage the sales department for Murphy Vineyards. Melissa manages the consumer direct activities for the winery, including scheduling all the winemakers dinners, wine competitions, trade and consumer wine events.
Michael Murphy
Michael spends his days working at OK Tire in St. Helena. When he gets time he enjoys working with Peter and Kevin supporting the family business. With developed skills as a welder he has designed and built everything from small trailers to farming implements used in the vineyards. When the need arises he also helps with big projects that involve operating heavy equipment. When he’s not working he likes to spend time outdoors and relaxing.
