Murphy Vineyards Sangria

On July 19, 2009, Melissa and Peter poured for the fundraiser Cause for the Paws in Napa, California. This event took place in The Grove at the Silverado Resort. Peter and I created this Sangria recipe to keep the palates cool on the hot summer day. Make this Sangria for a bbq, party or for fun. It's a great way to use left over bottles in the frig.

Our Sangria

1 Bottle of 2004 Murphy Vineyards Syrah

4 cups of Ginger Ale

1 Lemon cut into wedges

1 Orange cut into wedges

3/4 cup Sugar (key ingredient)

1/2 cup Strawberries cut into quarters

For instant Sangria, first mix wine and sugar. Then, cut lemon and orange into wedges and squeeze into the wine. Add these wedges to the mixture for further flavoring and color. Cut strawberries and add to mixture. Then add ginger ale. Serve over ice.

To leave Sangira over night to develop more flavors first combine the wine & sugar. Then add your lemons, oragnes, and strawberries. Let this chill for 24 hours. Add the ginger ale right before you serve.

Cheers!
