1998 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
The 1998 Cabernet Sauvignon is 100% Cabernet from the Napa Valley but from two different Vineyards. 60% percent of the fruit came from the Howell Mountain appellation of Napa which provides the good fruit structure and acid. The other 40% of the Cabernet grapes came from the St. Helena area which helps to balance the wine into an elegant style Cab with rich earthy aromas and great varietal flavors.
The 1998 Growing Season
"...later than usual harvest, growers faced the possibility of rains, but nature cooperated with a warm and sunny early autumn. Picking started in late September, went into full swing in October and reached completion in early November. The clusters, while small and low in weight, produced elegant fruit with definite personality and complexity. The juice to skin ratio was very low, which translates into extracted wines with concentrated fruit flavors." --Napa Valley Vintners
