Tasting Notes
Just like its predecessor, this vintage is another inviting blend that begins with a floral and fruity candied nose and leads to luscious flavors of cherries, strawberries and allspice. Complex yet subtle, it’s a table wine with a long, smooth finish that you will be proud to serve year round.
Wine Composition
Syrah Sierra Foothills 51%
Cabernet Franc Sierra Foothills 45%
Cabernet Sauvignon Napa 4%
Bottled August 2006.
Production notes
The blend for this table red is 51% Syrah, 45% Cabernet Franc and 4% Cabernet Sauvignon, which results in a complex wine with a broad depth of flavor. Some of the Cabernet Franc and all of the Syrah came from Monarch Mine Vineyards near Auburn, where an elevation of 2,300 feet and reddish soils high in iron contribute a distinct astringency to the grapes. The wines, including a dash of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, were made separately and aged in French and American oak for 10 months before blending and bottling.
